Sanctification by Knowledge??

"In circles where theology matters, discipleship can contract from the robust way of life taught by Paul and Jesus into something akin to information dumping (even good information), and the loss of imitation certainly contributes to his phenomenon. Young pastors imitate professors, writers and popular preachers rather than godly elders and faithful saints. If discipleship becomes the dispensation of knowledge, we are left with the impression that knowledge of the right things make one a fully formed disciple. John disagrees: it is the presence or absence of godlike and Christlike behavior - not belief alone - that tells us who we are (1 Jn 2:3-4; 3:16-24; 5:2)."
